He came from heaven to the earth to
show us the way. He came to pay a debt He did not owe. We owed a debt we could not pay.
So He walked for you and me.
The crowd was
screaming, "Crucify Him!!!"
And though they hated Him, He loved them with a love like man had never known.
These were the ones He came to save...to give life to,
But still they wanted to crucify Him.
He was wounded, bruised and beaten....for us, not for anything He did,
But He chose to walk, so He walked.
He could see the crowd gathering upon the hill called Golgotha.
He knew each one so well. He had created them. They were made in His image.
He knew each one by name. Oh! How He loved them.
But now they were full of hate and anger...but He loved them still,
So He continued to walk.
The flesh of Him did not want to do this.
He ask His Father if there wasn't some other way.
But then said, "Father, Your will, not Mine".
He felt alone. His disciples had left, denied, and even betrayed Him.
He searched the crowd looking for love in their eyes, but found very few.
Then He looked upward, to the One that sent Him,
And He knew that He would never be alone.
He looked back at His people, the ones who had placed a crown of thrones upon His head,
They were now spitting at Him, throwing rocks at Him, tearing His cloths, and mocking Him
and He knew that because of Him, they would never be alone.
So for them, He walked.
The sounds of the hammer striking the spikes-like nails could be heard throughout the
hillside.
You could hear the cheers of the crowd, as his hands and feet were nailed to the
cross...they grew louder with each blow.
But He had the love of His Father and He knew His Father loved these people.
So His walk continued on.
Jesus could have called ten-thousand angels to set Him free,
But instead He asked God to forgive them,
To forgive the ones who were persecuting Him.
As He hung on that cross, dying for the sinners of this world,
He looked out and saw
not only those gathered around Him,
But the faces of those yet to be....yes, you and me.
And His heart filled with love, as His body was dying.
He was filled with unconditional love for every man and woman, and
child...that includes you and me.
That is why He walked.
That is why He died. That's why He rose from the dead.
So that we, the sinners, could be forgiven and have eternal life.
