Making a "Framed Border Background" really isn't hard, but until you do it a few times, it sure can seem that way.  It's time-consuming and consist of a lot of steps, but the more you make these framed borders, the faster you will become at it.   They're lots of fun to make and you can really come up with some beautiful backgrounds.

So, if you're willing to hang in there and not give up, let's get started.

Things you will need:

PSP, of course:  Download a trial version here
An image:  You may download the one used for tutorial, if you like, then unzip it into a folder on your hard drive.  Download the zip file here
Super BladePro:  Download a trial version here
Blade Pro Pitted Gold Preset:  Download zip file here, then unzip into your Super BladePro Environments folder.
Texturizer Filter:  You can download it here, then unzip it into your "Plugins" folder within PSP.

Unzip and save the files according to the directions above, before opening PSP.  If you don't the plugins and BladePro Preset  will probably not show up in your Plugin folder or BladePro environments folder.

Okay, let's get started. Remember to save your work often.

Step 1. Open a new image, using these settings:

Step 2. Set your foreground color to white and your background color to null, like this:

Step 3. Select the "Preset Shapes Tool" and use these settings:  The shape is "Rounded Rectangle".

Step 4. Now place your cursor at coordinates 20,20 and draw out to coordinates 610 and down to 380. Your image should now look like this:

Step 5. Click on the Magic Wand Tool and use these settings:

Step 6. With your Magic Wand Tool still selected, click on the frame you just made. Now you should have marching ants around the frame, like this:

Step 7. Now go to Effects/Plugins/FlamingPear/Super BladePro. Click on the "Environments" button (circled in black) .  A window will open.  Find the "J_pitted gold.q9q" preset, highlight it, and click "Open".  Your frame border will now consist of the "pitted gold".  Now click "OK".

Your frame border should look like this"

Save your work.  Be sure to save it in psp format.  If you don't, your background will be white instead of transparent, when you open it back up.

Step 8. Right click on your frame border image to deselect it.
