"Have the roots (of your being) firmly (and)
deeply planted (in Him, fixed and founded in Him), being continually built
up in Him, becoming increasingly more confirmed (and) established in the
faith, just as you were taught, and abounding (and) overflowing in it with
thanksgiving."
Colossians 2:7

What's the most important part of a tree? It's
branches? It's bark? No. It's roots. A tree can't grow or produce anything
without it's roots....it's unseen parts. Young roots absorb water and
minerals for the trees healthy growth and the older roots take these
minerals and water and send them to the stem.
The roots store the trees food for dormant periods....dry spells, cold
weather, etc. Food stored in the trees roots supply energy and food needed
when the weather changes and it's time for new growth.
Trees are always growing. As long as they live, growth is taking place. New
roots are forming. Old barks is gotten rid of, so new bark can take it's
place. New branches are forming. Without the roots, a tree will fall.
Our roots in God need nourishing to help us grow in Him and to keep us from
falling.
God has given us everything we need to grow strong and to be well planted in
Him. He has provided us with all the provisions to carry out His plan in our
lives.
He's given us family and friends to help us and encourage us along our way.
We can't see God, but like the unseen roots of a tree, we know He's there,
working in our behalf. That's why He is called, Jehovah Jireh....the God who
provides.
Have you ever been thirsty? As Jesus told the Samaritan woman at the well,
"Whoever drinks the water I give will never thirst" (John 4:14).
Have you ever been hungry? Jesus is the bread of life; He promises that
whoever comes to Him will never go hungry. (John 6:35).
What did Jesus tell us about abiding in His Word? In John 8:31, He said to
the Jews who believed in Him, "...If you abide in My Word (hold fast to My
teachings and live in accordance with them), you are truly My disciples"
(Amplified version).
In First Peter 5:8-9, God tells us to be firm in faith, rooted, established,
strong, immovable and determined, so that we can withstand the temptations
of satan.
Stay rooted in the Lord and watch Him provide for your every need. Hold on
to your faith in Him, so that satan can not come and steal from you.
Have your roots deeply planted in Him and feed on His Word to nourish the
growth of new roots and keep the old roots healthy and alive.
